Course Description: This course will provideparticipants with the tools needed to make science a fun, enjoyable learning experience while further increasing competence and confidence in science. The course will include pre- and post-inquiry assessment tools, individual inquiry investigations, interdisciplinary learning and inquiry techniques, and critical thinking skills. Participants will carry out and evaluate their own original inquiry investigations.

Themes:

Conduct inquiry in small groups and hone skills of observation.
Gain tools on how to assess knowledge before and after inquiry.
Develop opportunities for scaffolding of the different uses and applications of inquiry.

Conduct an inquiry with sound experimental design to promote critical thinking
Discuss how to integrate interdisciplinary collaborations in science, math, literacy, and the arts.
Facilitate all steps of the scientific method and inquiry process.

Career Panels - Zoo Career Exploration for teens aged 11-17

Do you have a teen wondering what it’s like to work at a zoo? Check out the Career Panel program for middle and high school students interested in participating in a career exploration at Denver Zoo.  Learn more about what working at a zoo is all about by connecting with a group of panelists as you learn more about their day to day tasks and their career path. Sample speakers include zookeepers, education and administrative specialists.

Giraffe Meet and Greet

Enjoy a guided, educational meet and greet with one of Denver Zoo's amazing animals. Meet & Greets are approximately 30 minute programs where guests receive a guided behind the scenes experience with one of the zoo's educator staff, a chance to engage and speak with an animal keeper and get to meet one of the amazing animals.

Giraffe Meet and Greet

Get heads above the rest and enjoy an elevated experience with Denver Zoo's tallest resident. This adventure is for guests of all ages, but, each person attending must be a registered attendee. For every 3 children registered there must be one registered adult accompanying children. Program registration does not include admission to Denver Zoo-admission tickets must be purchased separately.

-Giraffe Meet and Greet will occur rain or shine.

-Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a person 16 years of age or older. 

-Denver Zoo reserves the right to re-route or cancel any tour due to animal health or safety concerns. In the event of cancellation, efforts will be made to reschedule you on a later date.

-Cancellation Policy: A cancellation fee of 50% will be charged for cancelling with less than two weeks notice. A cancellation fee of 100% will be charged for a missed adventure.

You must check in at Guest Services 15 minutes prior to the start time of your adventure. The behind the scenes nature of this experience makes joining the group late not possible.

There is limited access for service animals in the Giraffe Meet and Greet area. Please call 720-337-1417 to confirm.

Penguin Encounter

Explore Denver Zoo like never before! The Penguin Encounter is a 60 minute guided tour providing guests with an intimate look at how Denver Zoo cares for these charismatic creatures and how to protect them in the wild. The encounter includes a guided tour through Denver Zoo's Bird World exhibit, behind the scenes access and an up-close encounter with one of the zoo's African Penguins. This adventure is for guests 8years if age and older. Program registration does not include admission to Denver Zoo-admission tickets must be purchased separately.

Daytime Admission Tickets

No refunds, exchanges or transfers. Tickets available until two daily. Although you will be asked to select a date for your visit, the tickets are good for any day during the year they are purchased in.

Order your online tickets, print them at home and head straight to Denver Zoo main gate for entry.

A $1 service charge will be added to the price of each ticket.
