Canid Husbandry Course

This is an invitation only course delivered by the Canid Taxon Advisory Group. Registration includes lunch on Sunday and Monday.

Elephant Encounter

Get to know more about Denver Zoo's beloved elephants while discovering a different side of Denver Zoo's newest exhibit Toyota Elephant Passage. Participate in an elephant training session after their daily demonstration, and then go behind the scenes and gain some insider knowledge from the animal keepers who care for these unique, charismatic creatures every day.

  • Please note that because of safety regulations, guests will not receive direct contact with the elephants, but rather will get a closer look than public perspective allows with exclusive behind-the-scenes access and interactions.

Restrictions

  • This adventure is for guest 12 years of age and older.
  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Program registration does not include admission to Denver Zoo-admission tickets must be purchased separately.
  • Elephant Encounter will occur rain or shine.
  • Denver Zoo reserves the right to re-route or cancel any tour due to animal health or safety concerns. In the event of cancellation, efforts will be made to reschedule you on a later date.
  • Cancellation Policy: A cancellation fee of 50% will be charged for cancelling with less than two weeks notice. A cancellation fee of 100% will be charged for a missed adventure.
  • You must check in at Guest Services 15 minutes prior to the start time of your adventure. The behind the scenes nature of this experience makes joining the group late not possible.
  • There is no access for service animals in the Elephant Encounter area. Please call 720-337-1417 for more information.
  • This tour is not recommended for persons with hay allergies.

Felid Husbandry Course

This is an invitation only course delivered by the Felid Taxon Advisory Group. Registration includes lunch on Sunday and Monday.

Felid SSP Meeting

Various Felid SSPs will be conducting meetings, see schedule for details. Registration is required but there is no cost to attend these meetings.

Felid TAG Meeting

Invitation only strategic planning session. Registration includes lunches and Zoo Day ticket.

Felid TAG Zoo Day/Icebreaker

Spend an afternoon touring behind the scenes felid areas and seeing scheduled keeper demos. Includes a visit to the new tiger exhibit (construction site permitting), which is scheduled to open this summer. Ticket includes transportation, dinner and drinks.

Orangutan Meet and Greet

What does it take to care for an ape? Learn this and more as you experience Primate Panorama like never before. You'll begin your adventure with a walking history of Denver Zoo as you make your way to Primate Panorama. Then, discover the wild world of great apes firsthand from the keepers that care for these intelligent and charismatic animals. Fore the grande finalie, you'll have a rooftop view of the Zoo's resident orangutans and gorillas that few get to experience while uncovering the secrects of their facinating behavior.

  • Please note that because of safety regulations guests will not receive direct contact with the apes, but rather will get a closer look than public perspective allows with exclusive behind-the-scenes access and interactions.
  • Program registration does not incluse admission to Denver Zoo-admission tickets must be purchased seperately.

Restrictions

  • The adventure of open to guests 8 and older.
  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied buy a person 16 years of age or older.
  • Great Apes Encounter will occur rain or shine.
  • Great Apes encounter involves climbing up and down steep stairs. Please notify us if this is a concern to any member of your group.
  • Denver Zoo reserves the right to re-route or cancel any tour due to the animal health or safety concerns. In the event of cancellation, efforts will be made to reschedule you on a later date.

Penguin Encounter

Explore Denver Zoo like never before! The Penguin Encounter is a 60 minute guided tour providing guests with an intimate look at how Denver Zoo cares for these charismatic creatures and how to protect them in the wild. The encounter includes a guided tour through Denver Zoo's Bird World exhibit, behind the scenes access and an up-close encounter with one of the zoo's African Penguins.

  • Program registration does not include admission to Denver Zoo-admission tickets must be purchased seperately.

Pre-Visit Zoo Day at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs

Behind the scenes tours, training and enrichment demos, and meeting with Cheyenne Mountain Zoo staff to chat conservation and all things Feline will be just part of your day! Lunch will be provided at CMZ. The bus will pick up at 8:15am from the Renaissance Hotel, arrive at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo around 10:15. Leave CMZ around 4:00pm, return to the hotel by 6:00pm.

ROADMAP: Reaching Our Audiences by Developing Mission Aligned Programs

Denver Zoo developed the ROADMAP (Reaching Our Audiences by Developing Mission Aligned Programs) to strengthen engagement and increase impact with guests.  The training includes exploration of: a Guest Interaction Guide, with age-appropriate tools for creating connections with guests; Program Content Standards that help focus program content; and a Program Design template, to help all program developers follow an outcomes-based process to guide the development of their programs. Through this highly interactive workshop you will discover how you can apply ROADMAP at your zoo or aquarium to better engage guests in your mission!

Open to AZA Zoo and Aquarium Educators and related staff.

Monday July 25 9:00am - 4:00pm AND Tuesday July 26 9:00am - 1:00pm

Fee:  $150 per person

Price includes lunch both days, zoo exploration and attractions and all workshop materials.

Tropical Discovery Meet and Greet

For lovers of reptiles,frogs and fish! Take a one of a kind look into Tropical Discovery, home to all things slithery, slimy, and scaly. You'll be transported into an exotic rainforest habitat that is home to over 300 species and visit two different behind the scenes areas; a face to face visit with the Komodo gragons, and a second area that is the keepers choice! It may be a bird's eye look into our 16,000 Pacific Reef habitat or meeting a frog thought to be extinct in the wild, just to name a few. Each experience is different, so an adventurous attitude is recommended!

Daytime Admission Tickets

Explore Denver Zoo where preservation is included with admission; 365 days a year.

Order your online tickets, print them at home and head straight to Denver Zoo main gate for entry.

A $1 service charge will be added to the price of each ticket.

  • No refunds, exchanges or transfers.
  • Tickets available until two pm daily.
  • You will be asked to select a date for your visit, however you are welcome to use the tickets anyday.
  • Tickets expire December 31st of the year they are purchased in.
